Limburg is one of twelve regions in the Netherlands. The region includes the province of the same name and has about 1.1 million inhabitants.
The largest city is the provincial capital Maastricht. Other major cities are Venlo, Roermond and Weert.
Adjacent regions are Noord-Brabant (North Brabant) in the west, Gelderland in the north and Nordrhein-Westfalen (in Germany) in the east and Belgium in the south.
