Rheinland-Pfalz is a region in western Germany. The region encompasses the bundesland with the same name and has about four million inhabitants. Bordering regions are Nordrhein-Westfalen in the north, Hessen in the east, Baden-Württemberg in the southeast, Saarland in the southwest and France in the south, Luxembourg in the west and Belgium in the northwest.
