Sachsen-Anhalt (Saxony-Anhalt) is a region in eastern Germany. The region encompasses the bundesland with the same name and has about two million inhabitants.
Bordering regions are Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) in the west, Brandenburg in the east, Sachsen (Saxony) in the southeast and Thüringen (Thuringia) in the southwest.
