Bergen is a municipality in the region of Vestlandet (Western Norway) in Norway. The municipality has about 279,000 inhabitants and is located in Hordaland county.

Location
The municipality is located on Norway's west coast and has sea borders with the municipalities of Austevoll in the southwest, Sund, Fjell, Askøy, Meland in the west, Lindås and Osterøy in the north and land borders with Vaksdal and Samnanger in the east and Os in the south, all in Vestlandet (Western Norway).
Urban areas
The urban area of Bergen is the largest with approximately 254,200 inhabitants and constitutes the municipality's central city. Other urban areas in the municipality are Espeland, Fanahammeren, Flesland, Hylkje, Indre Arna, Krokeidet, Nordvik and Ytre Arna.
