Bonn is a municipality in the region of Nordrhein-Westfalen (North Rhine-Westphalia) in Germany. The municipality has about 327,000 inhabitants and is located in the southwest part of the region.

Location

Bonn, officially the Bundesstadt Bonn, is a independent city (German: Kreisfreie Stadt) and is located on both sides of Rhine, approx. 40 kilometers south of Köln (Cologne).

Ten cities and municipalities (including Königswinter) border the municipality of Bonn, all of which - with the exception of Remagen, which is located in the municipality Ahrweiler in the region Rheinland-Pfalz (Rhineland-Palatinate) - belongs to the municipality Rhein-Sieg-Kreis.
