East Midlands is one of twelve regions in the United Kingdom. It consists of Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire (except North and North East Lincolnshire), Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire and Rutland and has about five million inhabitants.

The East Midlands' largest settlements are Leicester, Nottingham, Derby, Northampton, Chesterfield, Lincoln, Mansfield, Loughborough and Kettering. Leicester is the largest city in the region by unitary authority measurements, whilst the Nottingham Urban Area is its largest conurbation.

Adjacent regions are East of England in the southeast, South East England in the south, West Midlands in the west, North West England in the northwest and Yorkshire & The Humber in the north.
