Dreifbýli (Countryside) is one of two regions in Iceland. The region covers most of the country's area with the exception of the area closest to the capital Reykjavik and has about 100 000 inhabitants.

The region covers more than 98 percent of the country's area, but only just under 30 percent of the population lives here, which means about one person per square kilometer. Dreifbýli also means sparsely populated in Icelandic. [1]
