Stockholm is one of 21 regions in Sweden. The region corresponds to the county with the same name and has about 2.3 million inhabitants and includes the eastern parts of the two provinces Södermanland and Uppland.
Adjacent regions are Södermanland in the southwest and Uppsala in the northwest.
