Östergötland is one of 21 regions in Sweden. The region includes the entire province with the same name as well as smaller parts of the provinces Närke, Småland and Södermanland.
Adjacent regions are Kalmar in the southeast, Jönköping in the southwest, Västra Götaland (through Lake Vättern) in the west, Örebro in the northwest and Södermanland in the northeast.
The province Östergötland covers most of the region.
